On Thursday night, every coach and player for the Clippers, Jazz, Lakers and Pelicans kneeled during the national anthem, but the same could not be said for the game between the Brooklyn Nets and Orlando Magic.
Magic forward Jonathan Isaac was the only player to stand during the national anthem and elected against wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt as well.
Following the team’s win over the Nets, the Florida State product was asked why he didn’t kneel during the anthem or wear a “Black Lives Matter” shirt.
“I thought that kneeling or wearing the Black Lives Matter T-shirt didn’t go hand in hand with supporting Black lives,” Isaac said. “My life has been supported through the Gospel. Everyone is made in the image of God and we all share his glory.”
Isaac hasn’t found too many supporters for his actions, but at least one fellow NBA player appears to be on his side.
Denver Nuggets player Michael Porter Jr. took to Instagram and posted support for Isaac in what appears to be a since-deleted post.

Porter Jr. is still dealing with the controversy of him theorizing the coronavirus pandemic is “being used for population control.”
Porter’s comments made headlines as the coronavirus death toll approached 150,000 in the United States and stood at 661,917 around the world on Wednesday.
“Personally, I think the coronavirus is being used obviously for a bigger agenda,” Porter, 22, said on Snapchat. “It’s being used for population control in just terms of being able to control the masses of people. I mean, because of the virus the whole world is being controlled.”
“You’re required to wear masks,” Porter added. “And who knows what will happen when this vaccine comes out? You might have to have the vaccine in order to travel. Like, that would be crazy.”
