Michael Jordan officially retired from professional basketball in 2003, concluding a remarkable 15-season career in the NBA. During his time in the league, Jordan spent 13 seasons with the Chicago Bulls, where he led the team to six NBA championships. His incredible achievements have earned him a permanent spot in the debate over who is the greatest of all time.
However, one of Jordan’s former teammates, Dennis Rodman, shed light on an unexpected aspect of their relationship in 2023. Rodman revealed that Jordan rarely spoke with him and Scottie Pippen during their time together in Chicago.
“Well, I think it was important for me to go there and win. Me and Scottie and Michael never had a conversation in three years in Chicago. Only time we had a conversation is on the court. That was it. And nobody believes that,” Rodman said in an interview with Graham Bensinger.
“Only people I had a conversation with was probably Jud Buechler, Randy Brown, Steve Kerr, Luc Longley, and other players. But me, Michael, and Scottie, we never had a conversation off the court,” he added.
Derrick Rose Reflects On Michael Jordan’s Legacy In Chicago
Derrick Rose, who recently announced his retirement from basketball, made an appearance on the Club 520 Podcast hosted by Jeff Teague. During the discussion, Rose claimed that Jordan’s talent would have shone through in any city but pointed out that Chicago played a crucial role in shaping Jordan’s identity.
“I’ve got to talk for Chicago because a lot of people, when they talk about Chicago, they always mention like the bad ****, so I’ve got to mix it up. MJ wouldn’t be MJ if he played anywhere else but Chicago for his pro career,” Rose said.

“He would’ve been a great player anywhere else, but in Chicago, he became the black cat; he became MJ in Chicago. Just off the strength of the culture that’s in Chicago, and there’s culture everywhere,” he added.
Whatever Rose claims, Jordan has set himself as an iconic role model for greatness, influencing the game and inspiring countless young players to pursue their dreams.
