The Miami Heat’s season ended without their superstar Jimmy Butler showcasing his playoff talent due to his injuries, but opportunities still knock at his door for the upcoming season. The forward is one of the prime candidates grabbing attention for the summer trade window.
Anthony Slater of The Athletic stated that if the Miami franchise would make Butler available for trade, then the Golden State Warriors would likely show interest in the veteran to some extent.
Though the six-time All-Star had earlier expressed his desire to retire with the Heat, constant rumors this season of potential brewing under the hood between the player and the franchise hint at a possible exit.
For the upcoming 2024-2025 season, Butler could make $48.8 million at Miami and has a player option for the following season worth $52.4 million. The 34-year-old is reportedly looking for a 2-year extension from Miami worth $113 million, increasing his player options by $2 million.
Since the Heat are yet to show any interest in making a move, the Warriors would get a fair chance to add Butler to their roster by placing a big offer. However, they are not the only franchise interested in Jimmy Buckets.

According to Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey, the Sixers will likely offer Butler a maximum extension provided that the Miami Heat makes him available for trading. His former franchise could give the 6-foot-7 forward the two-year deal he allegedly wants from the Heat.
Butler had a decent season with the Heat before his injury which sidelined him for the Playoffs. In the 60 regular season games he played, Butler averaged 20.8 points per game from an impressive 49.9% shooting from the field and 41.4% from beyond the 3-pts arc. His 5.3 rebounds and 5 assists per game prove his two-way threat as Butler still can be a viable weapon for any championship-chasing team. Whether he stays with the Heat, switches sides to the Sixers, or goes to the West Coast is still to be seen in what promises to be a summer to look out for.
