The Miami Heat would be well aware that their window to win a title with Jimmy Butler is closing after their first-round playoff exit earlier this year.
The former Eastern Conference champions need some additional offense heading into next season as it’s clear that they cannot win with their current group, and Trae Young is now viewed as the star who could get them over the hump.
Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report has proposed a trade that would land the Atlanta Hawks point guard in South Beach.
The trade proposal sends Young and Kobe Bufkin to the Heat while the Hawks would receive Tyler Herro, Jaime Jacquez Jr., Terry Rozier, a 2028 first-round pick swap, and a 2030 first-round pick swap.
“For Miami, this would be a talent play,” Bailey explained. “The Heat ranked 21st in offensive rating this season, and Young, despite his flaws and the steady flow of criticism he’s faced over the years, remains one of the NBA’s most dynamic offensive engines.
“The Heat would have to scour free agency or the undrafted free agent market to find depth around Young, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo, but they’ve proven adept at that in the past.”
Young, who is entering the third year of a five-year $215 million deal, hasn’t been able to lead the Hawks to much success since their surprise run to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021. He would probably welcome a fresh start elsewhere.

The Miami Heat Could Be Interested In A Move With Trae Young On The Market
The Miami Heat could find negotiations for Trae Young amicable, as the Atlanta Hawks are open to trading him.
According to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto, the Hawks could trade either Young or Dejounte Murray in the coming offseason.
“There’s a widespread belief among rival executives that the Hawks will break up their backcourt and part with either Trae Young or Dejounte Murray this offseason,” he noted. “In years past, there was strong resistance to moving Young, but rival executives believe Atlanta will be more open to that conversation this offseason than ever before.”
Pairing Young with Butler could possibly thrust the Heat back into title contention. But this is all in theory for now.
