The Miami Heat may be on the verge of blowing a 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals, but they’re not planning on going back home after their Game 7 showdown with the Boston Celtics on Monday night.
With their backs against the wall given that they’re set for a series decider on the road, the Heat are going straight to Denver after Monday’s game. That is according to Fox Sports’ Andy Slater, who is reporting that Erik Spoelstra and his team have flights booked for Denver, not Miami.
Spoelstra told reporters the Heat would “get it done” after allowing the Celtics to tie things up on the Heat’s home floor on Saturday. And it appears that they’re so confident in their ability to overcome this latest bit of adversity, they’re already gearing up for the finals.
“The Heat have a flight scheduled to Denver, not Miami, after the game tonight, per FAA records,” Slater tweeted on Monday.
Of course, if the Heat don’t win tonight, they’re probably going to have their airfare refunded – plus it’s not going to affect their purse if they have to pay for flights they don’t make. But such a move could do wonders for a team needing as much confidence as it can get given the way things ended on Saturday.
It’s akin to Michael Jordan packing one suit for that Game 6 fixture against the Phoenix Suns in the 1993 NBA Final.

Miami runs the risk of becoming the first NBA team to lose after going up 3-0 in the playoffs. They had better be willing to do anything to ensure that does not happen.
