Klay Thompson joined the Dallas Mavericks in the offseason after playing 13 seasons with the Golden State Warriors. Many teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers, approached him, with the Lakers coming close to signing him. Despite his father’s advice to join the Lakers, Thompson chose to join the Mavericks.
Thompson’s defensive abilities are being questioned as he won’t be part of the trio with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green in the new team. Thompson shared his honest opinion during a recent interview to address the criticism.
“I still want to get rid of that notion that I’m not the same defender as I once was. I truly believe I am, and I’m excited to prove people wrong that I can still guard the elite players in this league and I thought it was a good step in the right direction for me,” Thompson said to the reporters after his debut game in the Mavericks.
Thompson made a strong debut with the Mavericks, showcasing his skills and confidence on the court. He expressed his belief in his ability to defend effectively against some of the league’s top players.
