Former NBA star Matt Barnes seems to be in a never-ending battle in court with his ex-wife, Gloria Govan. The two have been at odds for years, but got extremely ugly a few years ago when Matt Barnes famously drove hundreds of miles after practice to fight former teammate Derek Fisher who had been secretly dating his estranged wife.
The most recent fight involves their 11-year-old twins as Barnes is trying to get the courts to reduce his child support payments, filing paperwork to examine Govan’s finances because he’s currently dishing out $7,500 per month in child support payments.
Barnes’s attorneys claim that Govan told the court she doesn’t have a job, but somehow lists monthly expenses of almost $20K.
According to court documents obtained by The Blast:
“The attorneys argue that Govan has “failed to declare the amount [Derek Fisher] contributes to her monthly expenses.”
Barnes wants Govan sanctioned for failing to turn over complete financial records and a hearing on his motion is scheduled for next month.
Now, in addition to the sanctions, Barnes is asking the court to also order a substantial decrease in his child support payments. He currently pays $7,500 per month for the couple’s 11-year-old twin boys and now he wants that number slashed all the way down to just $1,018.”
At one point, Barnes was dishing out $20K a month in child support, before he got it reduced last year to the current rate of $7,500.
Govan, who is engaged to be married to Barnes’ ex-teammate Derek Fisher, has since filed documents seeking more custodial time with the twins.
