Mark Cuban is the minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks, and as such, he faces certain restrictions. Back in 2023, Cuban decided to sell the majority of his shares to Adelson and Dumont families for a whopping $3.5 billion. Now, the 66-year-old has the right to control the basketball operations. But a brand new limitation has frustrated Cuban significantly.
As a minority owner, the NBA has barred Cuban from sitting behind the Mavericks’ bench at road games. Understandably, this comes as a huge surprise for the owner. This is because the spot was Cuban’s favorite and a designated one where he has been sitting for years now. Visibly angry at the NBA’s decision to ban him, Cuban lashed out at the league, calling it “petty”

“The only time I feel any regret is when the NBA pisses me off… The NBA got really, really, really petty and said that I can’t sit behind the bench anymore,” Cuban said in an interview with Marc Stein. However, Cuban has been quite happy with his laid-back role despite his frustrations.
Mark Cuban Opines On His New Role At Dallas Mavericks
Mark Cuban joked about being a minority owner and how he has been missing his previous roles. Speaking with Stein, the Mavericks minority owner hilariously mentioned how he felt sad about not being a part of league meetings. He also mentioned about not calling out the policies.

He then opined, on a serious note, that despite some small changes, there have been no notable changes in his day-to-day operations. Cuban stated that he still wants the best for the Mavericks and is committed to the success of his team. “Honestly… is it exactly the way I expected it to be? No. But we’re winning, and things are going well. I’m fine with it,” Cuban said. Thus, with things going a tad bit haywire for Cuban, he is surely enjoying his stint as a minority owner of the Dallas Mavericks.
