Malika Andrews is public enemy No. 1 this week.
On Tuesday, ESPN reporter Malika Andrews received some anger on social media after she asked NBA Commissioner Adam Silver about the Ja Morant gun video, which resulted in the Memphis Grizzlies star’s latest suspension over the weekend.
Silver made an appearance on ESPN shortly after the San Antonio Spurs were handed the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Andrews questioned Silver about his encounter with Morant, who was suspended for the first time for brandishing a gun in a Denver nightclub earlier this year.
“Honestly, I was shocked when I saw, this weekend, that video,” Silver told Andrews of the latest incident involving Morant.
“We’re in the process of investigating it and we’ll figure out exactly what happened as best as we can. The video’s a bit grainy and all that, but I’m assuming the worst. We’ll figure out exactly what happened there.”
Andrews was simply doing her job of covering recent events in the league, but social media went crazy on her for even asking about it.

The Grizzlies suspended Morant from all team activities as the NBA launched an investigation into the situation. It came less than three months after he was seen with a gun in an Instagram Live while in a Denver-area strip club.
Morant had previously flown to New York to speak with Silver in the aftermath of the first gun incident, which resulted in an eight-game suspension without pay.
Morant was reinstated after completing a brief counseling program in Florida in March.
Morant could be facing a lengthy suspension this time around, according to multiple reports.
He signed a five-year rookie maximum extension with the Grizzlies worth up to $231 million in 2022. The Grizzlies star lost his spot on an All-NBA team, forfeiting $40 million in guaranteed money that comes from a super-max contract.
