Thursday night may have been about NBA Draft picks, but Malika Andrews found herself being a trending topic online for several reasons.
ESPN’s Malika Andrews asked analyst J.J. Redick about Ben Simmons after his Brooklyn roster breakdown as they discussed the team’s needs.
Redick, who was teammates with Simmons for three years with the 76ers, simply looked at Malika for a few seconds before he decided to respond.
“Yeah, I will discuss Ben Simmons when he’s back on the basketball court,” Redick said.
Simmons played in 42 games this past season after missing his first year-plus with the Nets after they acquired him at the 2022 NBA trade deadline.
The 26-year-old has been dealing with knee and back issues for much of the season and played his last game of the season on Feb. 15. Even when he is healthy and on the court, he gets heavily criticized for not shooting the basketball no matter where he is on the court.

He is a shell of the player he used to be at LSU and in Philly. Simmons had his name trending last week when he posted photos of himself working out in Miami on Instagram.
However, fans are not buying it until he is able to get through a season and return to the player he once was and do it on a consistent basis.
The Nets went on to draft Alabama’s Noah Clowney at No. 21 and Duke’s Dariq Whitehead at No. 22.
After trading James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving, the Nets are in a full rebuild that is centered around budding star Mikal Bridges.
