Zach LaVine has been a prominent figure in trade discussions since the beginning of the 2024-25 NBA season. Following considerable speculation, he secured a new team on February 3, 2025. In a significant three-team trade that included the San Antonio Spurs, LaVine was traded to the Sacramento Kings.
In a recent game against the New Orleans Pelicans, LaVine scored 22 points, provided 5 assists, and collected four rebounds. However, he struggled with his shooting, making only 1 of 7 attempts from three-point range. During the post-game interview, his teammate Malik Monk humorously called out LaVine’s shooting struggles.
“Yeah, that motherf—– ain’t hitting no threes like he do with everybody else. I don’t know what it is, his s— broke right now. I’m just playing, he’s going to start hitting them, he’s just gotta get a few games under his belt,” Monk said.

LaVine appears to need some time to adjust to his new team. Domantas Sabonis played a crucial role in the Kings’ performance against the Pelicans. He recorded a double-double, scoring 27 points, providing two assists, and grabbing 16 rebounds in 34 minutes of play. This outstanding performance was key to the Kings’ narrow victory, with a final score of 123-118.
Zach LaVine Reflects On His First Win With The Kings
LaVine made his debut with the Kings in a game against the Orlando Magic at the Golden 1 Center. He scored 13 points, provided three assists, and grabbed one rebound in 31 minutes of play. Unfortunately, the Kings lost that game with a final score of 111-130. However, in a recent matchup against the Pelicans, LaVine’s impressive performance helped the Kings secure the win. During the post-game interview, LaVine reflected on achieving this milestone win with the team.
“It was really fun. Obviously, we didn’t have the best showing in the first game, and it’s tough coming to a new team and trying to figure it out with everybody on the fly, but we’re pros. There’s no excuse. We know how tight the West is. To come out here and have this performance after a slow first, it was great,” LaVine said.
