Malik Beasley is not going down without a fihgt.
This week, a judge ordered the Minnesota Timberwolves guard to pay $6,500 per month in child support to estranged wife, Montana Yao. The judge also denied her request to receive $5,000 per month in temporary spousal support and the original $8,000 a month in child support she was requesting.
US Weekly is now reporting that Beasley wants to have a DNA test to prove the child is indeed his before having to shell out any cash.
“Malik Beasley has called his and estranged wife Montana Yao’s son’s paternity into question amid their divorce, Us Weekly can confirm.
According to the filing, Beasley “now contests paternity” and has already taken the test to learn whether he is the biological father of Makai. “[The] results of those tests are unknown as of the date of this Order,” the documents, obtained by Us, state.
The Minnesota Timberwolves player’s attorney, Steven A. Haney, exclusively told Us in a statement on Tuesday, March 30, that the paternity test was “taken last week.” He added: “Given the facts and circumstances surrounding these parties’ relationship and lifestyle it would have been negligent not to have one performed. If he is deemed the biological father, he will comply with the order or the court. The Order was contingent upon paternity being established.”
Last December, a photo of Scottie Pippen’s ex-wife, Larsa, and Timberwolves guard Malik Beasley went viral. It was a moment that shocked Beasley’s wife, who had no idea that he had ended their relationship and moved on. She quickly filed for divorce.
