The Clippers are entering year five of the Kawhi Leonard-Paul George era, still hoping that the two perennial All-Stars can lead this franchise to its first NBA championship. LA’s latest quest for the Larry O’Brien Trophy ended early with a first round elimination at the hands of the Phoenix Suns.

It’s quite evident that the Clippers need a third star to help George and Leonard. And according to a new report, the front office is still active on acquiring a standout guard from the Boston Celtics.
Per Jared Weiss of The Athletic, Los Angeles remains “in trade talks” with Boston for Malcolm Brogdon. Boston acquired the reigning Sixth Man of the Year Award winner in a blockbuster trade with the Indiana Pacers.
“The price for Holiday likely starts at two first-round picks, but several teams in the mix have the means and motivation to go beyond that. The LA Clippers are reportedly in the hunt for the defensive stalwart, but they have continued to engage the Celtics in trade talks for Brogdon throughout the offseason, league sources told The Athletic under the condition of anonymity so they could speak freely.”

Los Angeles nearly acquired Brogdon in a three-team trade with the Celtics and Washington Wizards that would have sent Kristaps Porziņģis to Boston. That trade fell through, and the C’s did end up acquiring Porzingis in a three-team deal that sent defensive standout Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Last season, Brogdon averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
