On Monday’s edition of First Take, Magic Johnson finally got his chance to speak out on the fallout with the Los Angeles Lakers that made him suddenly quit as the President of basketball operations.
Johnson put the blame squarely on the shoulders of Rob Pelinka and stated it was talk going on behind his back.
Magic said that agents called him to warn him about Pelinka, but he opted to give the GM a fair shot.
“If you’re going to talk betrayal, it’s only with Rob [Pelinka].”
The following segment had First Take play a snippet of what LeBron James had to say about Magic leaving and how he felt about him not even picking up the phone to call and inform him that he was leaving.
Magic explained that he had no regrets about how he handled it and that men and women have to make decisions for their own personal happiness.
