Since joining the Dallas Mavericks, Luka Doncic has consistently captured the spotlight with his incredible talent and performance. His stellar play has even led Patrick Beverley to predict a promising future for the young star.
Recently, during the Mavericks’ 2024 Fan Jam event at the American Airlines Center, Doncic faced a unique challenge from teammate Dereck Lively. In a friendly bet, Lively dared Doncic to showcase his athleticism, and the Slovenian star delivered in spectacular fashion.
Doncic stunned his teammate by sinking a jaw-dropping one-armed shot from one basket to the other. With the shot, he proved once again why he’s one of the league’s elite players. Following this clutch moment, a fan took to X to humorously inquire how much Lively lost in his bet against Doncic.
The Mavericks star didn’t shy away from the fun, responding directly to the fan’s post. He shared the tweet, claiming that Lively had lost a whopping $100,000 in the friendly bet.
Jaylen Brown Praises Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving
Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving’s dreams of capturing their first NBA trophy with the Dallas Mavericks were dashed last season when they faced a tough defeat against the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.
Despite this setback, the Celtics, led by Jaylen Brown, gained firsthand experience of how challenging it is to control the dynamic duo’s firepower on the court. During a recent appearance on the show Hot Ones with Sean Evans, Brown shared his admiration for both players.

“Luka has a unique rhythm. It’s almost so slow that it’s hard to time. Kyrie has a unique rhythm as well, very one-of-a-kind. His moves and cadences are very hard to time. He’s got a lot of counters; he can pivot off both feet; he can shoot with both hands; and he can drive in both directions, which makes his rhythm a lot harder to track,” Brown said.
Doncic and Irving will face their first preseason challenge against the Memphis Grizzlies on October 7. Fans are eager to see if this talented duo can make a run for the trophy this year.
