There’s one thing in the game of basketball that binds the athletes to the hoop enthusiasts on the same level. That thing is emotion. Sometimes, when the fans get consumed by passion, they tend to make irrational decisions. Something similar happened in the Western Conference semifinal Game 2 between the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder.
During the fourth quarter of the game, when the Mavericks were already in the lead, Luka Doncic was spotted getting involved in an altercation with a courtside OKC fan sitting next to NFL players James Conner and Kyler Murray. Although it was hard to figure out why the Slovenian had the heated exchange with the fan, Doncic later revealed the reason in the post-game press conference.
“There was one guy courtside, going at my family, I didn’t like that man,” Doncic continued, “Grown a** man, just can’t do that.” When the fan dragged Luka’s family while trying to taunt him, he couldn’t bear it and went straight at the man to sort things out.
This was not the only time the Thunder fans at Paycom Center ridiculed the Mavs guard during Thursday night’s game. Rather, it went on throughout the game. However, Doncic handled the pressure smoothly and replied to them with outstanding performance, leading to a 119-110 win for the Mavericks.

There were OKC fans who hurled “Luka s**ks” chants and booed him the entire game. To top it off, Doncic was playing through an injury he received from falling early in the game. He didn’t let it affect his stat line, though.
Doncic added 29 points to the Mavs’ scoreboard. He also grabbed 10 rebounds, distributed 7 assists, blocked a shot, and nabbed three steals while shooting 11/21 from the floor and 5/8 threes.
With his marvelous contribution, the 5-time All-Star could silence the crowd and level the series 1-1. The Mavericks will host the OKC team on Saturday. You can expect Dallas fans to give them a taste of their own medicine.
