The first-round playoff series between the Dallas Mavericks and the LA Clippers was a rather interesting one, with both teams showing the same zeal to establish supremacy over the other. After six nail-biting games, the Mavs finally finished the series with a 4-2 win, leaving their All-Star guard, Luka Doncic, exhausted.
During a post-game interview, the Slovenian claimed “I’m tired.” Of course, it wasn’t easy to defeat the star-studded Clippers, so Doncic’s reaction was just. The Dallas franchise will proceed to their second-round series against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday, so the 25-year-old thinks “It’s important to get rest now.”
Doncic with the help of Kyrie Irving, drove the team to the playoffs, following an excellent regular season. The Mavs had a disappointing start, giving away control to the Clippers, but with great defense and offense in the next two games, they snatched the lead. The next two rounds were alternatively won by the teams, but when it came to the sixth game, the Mavericks gave their all, especially Luka Doncic.
Luka Doncic’s Playoff Series So Far
Doncic has been a force to reckon with in the regular campaign, averaging an impressive 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, 9.8 assists, and 1.4 steals. It wasn’t a surprise that he performed equally well in the playoff series. The 5-time All-Star opened the series with a massive double-double of 33 points, 13 rebounds, and 6 assists, hitting 11-of-26 shots from the floor and 4 out of 12 shots from behind the arc, but couldn’t secure a win.
In the following game, he scored 32 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists, missing the double-double by a hair. Doncic hit the same number of shots from the floor as in the previous game while shooting 5 threes. After two straight wins, he couldn’t contribute much point-wise in Game 3 but compensated with an almost triple-double stat line of 22-10-9.

Doncic finally added a triple-double in game 4 with 29-10-10, but it was not enough to snatch the win from the dominating Clippers. However, in the next two games, he dropped double-doubles, 35 points and 10 assists, 28 points, and 13 assists, and grabbed 7 rebounds in each game, finishing with an average of 29.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 9.5 assists in the playoffs.
With his exceptional talents, Luka proceeded to the next round, determined to bag his first Larry O’Brien Trophy this year.
