With the arrival of JJ Redick, the Lakers are expected to make a championship-contending roster. With D’Angelo Russell reportedly in the trade market despite his wish to continue with the Los Angeles team, it indicates that the franchise needs a point guard. Trae Young was the name that circulated around the franchise for a considerable time, but that move now seems unlikely.
According to Jovan Buha, Trae Young’s chances of landing in LA are slim due to one reason. “Trae Young is less likely to end up with the Lakers, in part due to his switch from Klutch Sports to CAA,” said The Athletic reporter.
Rich Paul, the agent of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, is an influential name when it comes to trades. Not being on his good side might affect a player’s chances of getting a better opportunity and that’s what is happening to Young.
The Hawks point guard has been linked to the Lakers since the last trade window. But with Dejounte Murray moving to the Pelicans, the Hawks might be less open to the prospect of trading Young.
Potential Trade Scenario for Trae Young
For a player who posted 25.7 points, 10.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game from 43% shooting last season, generating interest in the trade block is quite easy. With the Lakers out of the question, Young can still join some potential teams.
The first team that comes to mind is the Spurs. With their massive cap space, they can get Young. But it will take a big offer for the Hawks to consider. Multiple future first-round picks and a handful of players might do it.

Another team that could be a potential destination is the Heat. The Miami side is desperate to get back to a contending spot. With Jimmy Butler’s future in doubt, a move for Trae could happen if the 34-year-old is traded elsewhere. The Magic are another side linked with Trae Young but as of now, no confirmed report has emerged about a potential move.
It remains to be seen if the Hawks look for a rebuild. If they do so, then Trae Young will likely exit the franchise.
