LeBron James Makes History As Lakers Defeat Grizzlies
LeBron James, who recently touched on his retirement, delivered a standout performance against Memphis that not only led the Lakers to victory but also cemented his place in the record books. The 39-year-old star finished with 35 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds.
It marked his third consecutive triple-double, making him the oldest player in NBA history to achieve this feat. His recent triple-doubles also came against the Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers.
Anthony Davis added to the Lakers’ strong showing with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 assists in just 32 minutes of play. Meanwhile, Rui Hachimura and rookie Dalton Knecht each scored 19 points, and Austin Reaves contributed with 18 points, two rebounds, and six assists. D’Angelo Russell rounded out the scoring for the Lakers with eight points.
The Grizzlies fought hard, with seven players finishing in double figures. Jaren Jackson Jr. led Memphis with 29 points, while Santi Aldama, Scottie Pippen Jr., and Marcus Smart each contributed 15 points. Zach Edey and Luke Kennard added 12 points apiece, and Jake LaRavia finished with 10 points. Jaylen Wells added nine points in the close loss.
