The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the defending champions, the Boston Celtics, 117-96 on Thursday night at the Crypto.com Arena. While the Lakers registered their second consecutive win, JJ Redick’s side snapped the Celtics’, who defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in their previous clash, two-game winning streak.
After starting the game on a dominant note, the Lakers maintained their upper hand in the second quarter to end the first half with a 19-point lead. In the first half, Lakers stars Anthony Davis (14), Austin Reaves (13), and LeBron James (12) led the team in scoring. On the other hand, Kristaps Porzingis led the Celtics with 17 points to end the first half, followed by Jaylen Brown’s 12 points.
Although the Celtics showed some sort of a comeback in the third quarter, leading the Lakers by four points, the Purple and Gold dominated the fourth quarter. The Lakers’ impressive team effort helped them secure a dominant win over the Celtics.
Lakers Star Trio Shines In Blowout Victory Against Celtics
An impressive team effort was the key to the Laker’s win over the Celtics. Anthony Davis registered a game-high 24 points with eight rebounds and three blocks, followed by Austin Reaves, who recorded 23 points while shooting 53.8% from the field. LeBron James added 20 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists in the win.

Apart from the star trio, Lakers stars Dalton Knecht, Gabe Vincent, and Rui Hachimura also scored in double digits. The Lakers rookie had an efficient outing against Boston as he scored 13 points on 71.4% FG shooting, including 3-off-4 three-point shots.
On the other hand, center Kristaps Porzingis led the scoring for the Celtics with his 22-point game. Celtics star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown had a lackluster performance as they scored 16 and 17 points respectively.

With this win, the Lakers improved their record to 23-18 and maintained fifth place in the Western Conference standings. The Lakers will travel to the Chase Center to face the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, while the Celtics will face the Mavericks in an away game on the same day.
