The Los Angeles Lakers have remained quiet this offseason despite speculation that they might target a big name to form a new trio alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. While rumors swirled about potential moves, the team didn’t make any major additions. Reports even suggested that LeBron tried to bring in Klay Thompson, but Thompson ultimately joined the Dallas Mavericks.
Amid the Lakers’ quiet offseason, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints has provided some hopeful news for fans. According to Siegel, the Lakers have expressed interest in several potential trade targets this summer. One name that has come up is Charlotte Hornets’ center Nick Richards.
“The Lakers expressed interest in several possible trade targets during the summer, league sources confirmed to ClutchPoints. One of the players they expressed interest in was Nick Richards from the Charlotte Hornets,” the report read.
Richards is coming off his best season yet, averaging 9.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 67 games, 51 of which he started. As a young, rising talent, he could be a valuable addition to the Lakers as they look to strengthen their roster for another title run.
Why Have The Los Angeles Lakers Not Played At The Crypto.com Arena This Preseason?
The Los Angeles Lakers have completed three preseason games, securing just one victory. Despite the anticipation surrounding their preseason, the team has yet to play any of these games at their usual home, the Crypto.com Arena.
On the “Hoop Collective” podcast, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst explained the situation regarding the Lakers’ home court. “Right now the Lakers can’t use Crypto.com. There’s a pretty heavy renovation going on there right now, especially outside the building,” Windhorst said.

Due to the renovations, the Lakers played their first two preseason games at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert. They then faced the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum in Wisconsin, which led to some frustration from LeBron James. The Lakers’ next matchup is against the Golden State Warriors at the T-Mobile Arena.
