LeBron James and his son Bronny James may share a strong familial bond, but they handle criticism in different ways. The four-time NBA champion recently revealed that the phrase “like father, like son” doesn’t quite apply to their approach to dealing with critics.
Recently, many have raised questions about Bronny’s consistency and the Los Angeles Lakers’ decision to pick him in the NBA Draft. While heavy criticism can impact young players’ morale, it is not the same for Bronny James. While speaking with ESPN recently, LeBron James went into detail about Bronny’s distinct mental makeup.
While talking about his son’s mindset, the 39-year-old said, “He does not care about nobody. He doesn’t even listen to that stuff. He’s like the coolest. He’s like the complete opposite of his dad. His dad will say something [to address the critics]. Bro does not care. … Everything that’s being said about him, he really does not care”
Then, he compared Bronny’s approach to his own mindset. “I personally don’t know if I would’ve been able to do that if the roles were reversed. When I was coming up, I had no choice. I literally had no choice. … I had to make it out for me. My mom, my family, my hometown, my city.”
LeBron James Calls Bronny Joining the Lakers His ‘Greatest Accomplishment’
LeBron James and his son Bronny are creating history by becoming the first father-son duo to play on the same NBA club at the same time. For Daddy James, this is more significant than any championship trophy.
“There’s no greater accomplishment that will be able to overtake me being on the same floor as my son”, LeBron said to ESPN.

The Lakers selected Bronny with the 55th overall selection in the draft’s second round. Before the draft, expressing his desire to play at his son’s side, the 39-year-old said, “I need to be on the floor with my boy, I got to be on the floor with Bronny.”
