After months of speculations, the Los Angeles Lakers finally confirmed the appointment of JJ Redick as the new head coach. Redick, who hosts the “Mind The Game” podcast with LeBron James, will guide the Lakers for the upcoming season.
After a disappointing elimination in the first round of the playoffs against the Denver Nuggets, the Lakers made some bold decisions to revamp the side. They fired the entire coaching staff, including head coach Darvin Ham. However, many analysts criticized this decision and voiced their support for Ham.
Following the firings, the Lakers searched for a potential candidate to lead the team to success. Reports by Shams Charania and Adrian Wojnarowski claimed that Redick and Dan Hurley, the head coach of the UConn Huskies, were front-runners for the position. However, Hurley later decided to stay with UConn. Subsequently, Redick emerged as the leading candidate.
