Los Angeles Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt has not yet made his debut for the 2024-25 NBA season due to several offseason foot surgeries that have kept him from playing so far. However, recent reports indicate that he is getting closer to making his comeback on the court. In light of this situation, Lakers insider Anthony F. Irwin made a lighthearted jab at Vanderbilt.
Recently, the United States banned the popular app TikTok due to national security concerns. However, just a few hours after the ban, TikTok was able to resume its services in the U.S. after President-elect Donald Trump assured that no penalties would be imposed on service providers offering the app. Irwin referenced the TikTok ban and its subsequent reversal to poke fun at Vanderbilt.
“TikTok was banned and came back before Vando.” Irwin wrote in his recent post on X (formerly Twitter).

Lakers Insider Unveils A Startling Update On Forward Jarred Vanderbilt
After their recent loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, with a score of 116-102, the Lakers now occupy the sixth spot in the Western Conference standings. They have a record of 22 wins and 18 losses in the 2024-25 NBA season. Amid this situation, Lakers insider Anthony F. Irwin provided a surprising update on forward Jarred Vanderbilt’s recovery.
“According to league sources and some close to the team, there is growing optimism that Vanderbilt might make his return within the next week or two, whereupon JJ Redick intends to utilize him in an interesting way. Whenever Vanderbilt does return, sources say he’ll be used up and down the Lakers’ frontcourt, and will almost assuredly spend time at center in Redick’s athletic, switchy vision for the team.” Anthony F. Irwin wrote in his recent reports.
