Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna were on a helicopter that crashed into the hills in Calabasas, California on Sunday morning, killing a total of nine people. Kobe Bryant’s 13-year-old daughter was also killed in that crash.
The Los Angeles Times says the crash occurred shortly before 10 a.m. near Las Virgenes Road, south of Agoura Road.
Hours after the announcement, the Grammys were still scheduled to happen at the Staples Center, a place where thousands of fans had shown up to pay tribute to the legend.
To open the Grammys, singer Lizzo dedicated the night to Kobe.
Alicia Keys and Boyz II Men also paid tribute to his memory.
