While most of the NBA community has accepted Nikola Jokic as the Most Valuable Player, there is someone who is not impressed by the Denver Nuggets center. Following the Nuggets’ 112-97 win in Game 5 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, rapper Lil Wayne expressed his harsh opinion.
In a video that circulated on the internet, Wayne stated, “First of all, I don’t like Jokic. I don’t like his game.” Taking a dig at the Serbian center he added, “Some people say he got an old-school game I guess but that’s an older school than I’m from because he looks like the Dad of the YMCA player!” The hip-hopper further praised Wolves center Rudy Gobert for his outstanding contribution in the series despite Jokic running rounds around him.
The 41-year-old is a well-known LA Lakers fan, which could be one of the reasons for not liking Jokic, as the MVP and his team swept the LA franchise from two straight post-season tournaments.
Last year, after climbing all the way up, the Lakers lost the Western Conference Finals series by 4-0 thanks to the Denver-based franchise who maintained their dominance throughout the series. They repeated the same in the first round of this year’s playoff series and ended with a 4-1 win, crushing the dreams of the LA franchise.
Even if the rapper doesn’t like Jokic, there is no denying that he is one of the best players in the current generation, if not the best and enhances others around him with his all-round game.
Nikola Jokic Believes He Is “Freak of Nature”
Nikola Jokic doesn’t lose his cool so quickly on and off the court. Moreover, he frustrates the opposing defense by not letting them figure out how to hold him back. He did the same while snatching the 3-2 lead against the Timberwolves and later on showed his light-hearted personality off the court.

During the postgame press conference when Jokic was asked about his recent improvement in dunks since Game 3, he amusingly replied “I had an open lane… you know, I’m a freak of nature. Why not show my athleticism?”
The 29-year-old dropped a massive 40 points coupled with 7 rebounds and 13 assists while converting 15 of his 22 shot attempts from the floor, two shots from the deep, and 8-of-9 free throws and some monstrous dunks to complete the highlight reel.
The Nuggets will need one more win to advance to the Western Conference Finals, but a loss in the series could bring Jokic’s dominance under scrutiny.
