LeBron James is finally speaking out again after his since-deleted tweet over the police killing of Ma’Khia Bryant in Columbus, Ohio. James shared a photo of a Columbus police officer with the caption, “You’re next. #accountability.”
On Monday, the Los Angeles Lakers star wrote he “fueled the wrong conversation about [Bryant].”
James had stated in a follow-up tweet that he took the original post down because it was “being used to create more hate.”
It was back on April 20th when body camera footage showed the 16-year-old lunging at two girls with a knife in her hands. The responding officer shot her multiple times, ultimately killing her as she was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The shooting occurred roughly 30 minutes before former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the May 2020 killing of George Floyd.
