This is exactly why LeBron did not want cameras trained on him during Monday’s ceremony.
The Los Angeles Times confirmed that LeBron James was one of many athletes that showed up for Kobe Bryant’s memorial ceremony, but the Lakers superstar was the only one not showed on television to viewers. That led to speculation on if he actually showed up.
Going back to the ceremony, Diana Taurasi confirmed his presence during a joke about him and actually pointed in his direction.
Less than 24 hours later, a reporter asked him straight up if he was in the building, and while LeBron stated he respected the question, he completely dodged it and put the focus back on Kobe and the wonderful Vanessa Bryant did during her speech.
Other active NBA players who attended included Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, James Harden, Russell Westbrook and many others. NBA Hall of Famers Bill Russell, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Phil Jackson, Elgin Baylor, Magic Johnson, Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, as well as NBA stars Dwyane Wade, Pau Gasol and Steve Nash.
