One of the most prominent and widely-followed sports personalities has proposed a fascinating LeBron James trade idea that would completely alter the NBA landscape.
Speaking on the latest edition of his podcast, The Ringer’s Bill Simmons floated a trade idea that would see the Los Angeles Lakers deal their franchise superstar to an archrival, with a future Hall of Famer heading over to La La Land as part of the return.
“There’s a trade that I really love and it won’t happen. The most fun trade for basketball is if he gets traded to the Warriors, and it’s (Jonathan) Kuminga and Klay (Thompson) and maybe some pick swap down the road. It’s just, we’ll take LeBron for three months and then he can declare for free agency.”
Simmons was intrigued by the idea of an “old guy superteam” that would consist of James and three other future Hall of Famers in Chris Paul, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
Last week, David Pingalore of KTLA Sports sent social media into a frenzy when he reported that the Lakers were listening to offers for the four-time NBA Champion. Pingalore even added that the Lakers are “close to” finding a suitor for the future Hall of Famer.

Entering play on Monday, the Lakers sit at 26-25 and are currently in a play-in spot. But that’s simply not acceptable for a team with James and Anthony Davis that went all the way to the Western Conference Finals a year ago.
The 39-year-old James has never been traded in his NBA career, having always swapped teams through free agency. But the trade deadline is now only three days away, so LeBron and the Lakers need to decide ASAP if a trade is best for both parties.
