LeBron James has never shied away from appreciating greatness and recently what caught the eyes of the 39-year-old genius was NBA legend Larry Bird’s 60-point contribution in 1985 against the Atlanta Hawks.
Mesmerized by the former Boston Celtics forward’s masterclass performance, LeBron wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Man just look at the Hawks bench from the 1:30 mark and on! Larry Legend was SOOOOOOOOO DAMN NICE! One of them 🐐’s”
Bird showcased an elite level of play in the 126-115 victories, recording his career-high points while hitting 22-of-36 shots from the floor, a 3-pointer, and 15-of-16 free throws. It was majorly the “Hick from French Lick” who carried the Cs through the game against tough opponents Eddie Johnson and Dominique Wilkins.
Larry Legend is not the only Celtics member who has been praised by LeBron; their current head coach is also on the 20-time All-Star list.
LeBron James Gives His Thoughts on Celtics HC Joe Mazzulla
LeBron James and JJ Redick praised Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla on their recent episode of the Mind The Game podcast for his unconventional coaching style.
When the former guard mentioned how the Celtics HC chose to foul in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers while his team was leading by 6 points, Mazzulla took the decision thinking that there would be a two-possession difference which would ultimately work in his team’s favor.

On hearing it, the Lakers forward claimed, “This Joe Mazzula guy is a f**king genius.” Redick responded by saying that the HC thinks “outside the box.”
Agreeing with his co-host, LeBron added, “And I see why he sits over there and he says absolutely nothing. And he’s calm as f**k. He only gets a little like — when he knows they’re not playing the right way offensively.”
Mazzula and his team secured the first win against the Mavericks, but to bag the Larry O’Brien Trophy, he needs to maintain his innovative thinking as they are tough to defeat.
