Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James is heading toward his 22nd NBA season and is highly motivated to play with his son Bronny James. While the Lakers fans are eager to equalize the Boston Celtics in the most NBA championships victory, the oldest NBA player has claimed it would be “unfair to put any expectations” on the Lakers this season.
The Purple and Gold chose stability in the summer free agency and will return with their core player in the upcoming season. While the Lakers picked Bronny James in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, they replaced head coach Darwin Ham with JJ Redick, who will make his coaching debut in the league.
Following their first day of the training camp, LeBron was asked about what to expect from the Lakers in the upcoming season. According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, James said, “I don’t have any expectations. And that’s unfair to put any expectations on us right now. The only thing that we can count on each other is how we come to practice and come to work every day.”
LeBron James And The Lakers Have High Expectations From Max Christie
Coach Redick earlier revealed that he will be playing a similar starting five as last season, including LeBron, Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell, and Rui Hachimura. The new Lakers coach also planned a “nine-man rotation” for the 2024-25 regular season. Among their other young talents, the Lakers resigned Max Christie to a four-year, $32 million deal in July.
LeBron appreciated the Lakers’ decision to keep Christie, calling him a “big part” of their rotation. On the other hand, JJ Redick said, “Christie is a guy who’s earned our coaching staff’s trust over the last two months.”
