The tragic death of Jayland Walker has been a hot topic of discussion after a routine traffic stop turned into a black man getting shot over 60 times by Akron Police Officers.
NBA star and Akron native Lebron James made a statement on the officer-involved shooting of 25-year-old Jayland Walker on Twitter.
“I pray for my city today”, the 4-time NBA champion said.
The Lebron James Family Foundation made a statement on the shooting as well.
Eight officers were reportedly involved in the shooting, which reportedly left Walker with more than 60 wounds. Video has been released of the fatal shooting of Walker.

Body cam footage shows multiple police officers descending upon his vehicle and giving chase to him. Mutliple shots would be heard as Walker laid on the ground.
Akron Beacon Journal reported that the Walker’s family attorney claimed that there were more than 90 bullets fired at Jayland as the young man suffered more than 60 wounds.
An investigation into the shooting is currently being conducted by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Akron Police Chief Stephen Mylett noted that the 25-year-old Walker was unarmed when eight officers shot at him. A gun was said to be recovered inside Walker’s car.
