LeBron James is running with a conspiracy theory claiming the NBA is sabotaging the Los Angeles Lakers’ season.
James, who is coming off a 48-point outing against the Houston Rockets on Monday night, agrees that the referees are missing obvious foul calls when it comes to his team, having taken to Twitter to voice his displeasure with the officiating the Lakers have had to endure in 2022/23.
“And all year they keep telling me to my face on the court, “I didn’t see it” or “It wasn’t a foul,” he wrote. “It’s not making sense to me seriously! Frustrating as hell man! Anyways keep going Squad!”
Given that this is coming from LeBron, who remains the face of the league, it’s telling enough. But even more concerning is the fact that it was in response to a fan’s tweet claiming the NBA is conspiring against the Lakers.
The post was attached to a video of Joel Embiid appearing to foul Russell Westbrook late in a game. The Lakers did not get that foul and ended up losing 113-112.

The side’s previous loss came under similar scrutiny after Troy Brown appeared to be fouled on a possible game-winner in an overtime game against the Dallas Mavericks.
Meanwhile, James is just 316 points away from becoming the NBA’s highest-ever scorer after his 48 points on Monday night. Barring a serious injury, he will usurp Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the NBA’s undisputed scoring King at some point this season.
