The Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies squared battle in Tennessee on Friday night.
Despite the tight nature of the game, the Lakers prevailed 123–120. In 41 minutes of action, four-time NBA champion LeBron James led the way with 37 points, nine rebounds, five assists, two steals, a 13/20 shooting percentage, and a 3/7 three-point shooting percentage.
James also created thrilling NBA history during the game, passing Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant (8,378) for third place on the all-time total of free throws made. The next guy James will pass after Bryant is Hall of Famer Moses Malone (8.531), per the NBA website.
LeBron James is having yet another fantastic season. Through 70 games, he has averaged 25.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 8.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 41.3% from three-point range and 54.0% from the field.
With a 46-35 record after 81 games, the Lakers are the eighth seed in the Western Conference.
They will now play the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday after being 7-3 in their previous ten games.
LeBron James & Co. Crashed Playoff Hope for the Grizzlies
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the struggling Memphis Grizzlies 123-120 Friday night. LeBron James scored 37 points, including six in the last minute, and pulled down ten rebounds. Anthony Davis scored 36 points and pulled down 14 rebounds.

Davis went 11 of 22 in this game after missing the Lakers’ Tuesday defeat to Golden State due to a left eye injury. LeBron James made 13 of 20 shots to assist the Lakers in winning their next two games.
The Lakers are only vying for position since they already know they will advance to the Western Conference play-in round of the playoffs. At the start of the day, the Lakers, Sacramento, and Golden State were tied for eighth and tenth positions. Later on Friday night, the Kings and Warriors played their games.
After dropping to 27-54 in 81 games, the Grizzlies are now ranked as the 13th seed in the Western Conference. They are in the middle of a four-game losing skid and have gone 3-7 over their previous ten games. The Grizzlies won’t make it to the NBA Playoffs in 2024.
