What was turning into a very promising season for the Los Angeles Lakers ended when they were swept by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals. There was no shame in that as they were clearly the better team and went on to win the NBA championship by brushing past the Miami Heat in the finals.
However, dating back to the conference finals, Nuggets head coach Michael Malone has seemed salty at what he saw as the media being focused on Los Angeles more than his team.
Days after winning the title, Malone decided to throw shade at LeBron James by joking he was thinking of retiring.
James had suggested he would consider retirement this offseason, which dominated a good part of the headlines for the next few days.
During Thursday’s championship parade, Malone was introduced as the “Lakers’ daddy.”

James sat back for a minute, but he soon found time to fire back at Malone on Instagram. He posted himself at the 24 Hours of Le Mans along with an emphatic caption.
“In Europe for the last past few weeks minding my business and I hear I’m on your mind that much huh??? I mean I guess I see why. But Wave the flag on these lames!! Please make being player cool again cause the lame machine is at an all-time high,” James wrote. “Enjoy your light but just know I’m the SUN. I stay on forever!”
One thing is for sure, next year’s matchups will be highly anticipated when the Nuggets take on the Lakers. We may just have a new rivalry on our hands.
The Nuggets are very good, but they’re not unbeatable. A few tweaks and additions by the Lakers, along with some good health and fortune, could result in them getting revenge on Malone next year.
Not like anybody believed him to begin with, but it is obvious that LeBron will be playing in the NBA next season.
