Bronny James’ basketball career hit an unexpected obstacle when he experienced a cardiac arrest during training camp at USC. After a successful high school career at Sierra Canyon, many questioned whether LeBron James’ son would be able to make it to the NBA following this health scare.
However, for LeBron, Bronny’s determination and adaptability have always made his basketball journey special. The proud father even recognized Bronny’s athletic potential when he was just a young child.
During the Los Angeles Lakers media day, LeBron and Bronny sat down together to reflect on their first season as teammates. LeBron took the opportunity to share a special moment from Bronny’s early years that revealed his son’s talent and determination in front of him.
“When he was like five or six years old, I just told him in the locker room before we came out, and he was playing on the Little League Tiny Tots League in our hometown of Akron, Ohio. And I think he was like five or six years old,” James said.
“He had done something, he had grabbed the rebound and drove coast to coast through the lane, through a couple of the other kids, and laid it up and had a little trot back. And I looked over at his mom, and I was like, Oh, he’s special,” he added.
