LeBron James is heading into his 22nd NBA season, and despite his longevity in the league, the Los Angeles Lakers star still possesses more athleticism than many of today’s younger players. With four NBA championships and three Olympic gold medals, his resume is nothing short of legendary.
However, as LeBron continues to dominate the court, fans and former players have started speculating about when he might finally retire. James’ former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate, Iman Shumpert, recently predicted that LeBron has at least three more years left in his career.
On the other hand, another former teammate, Isaiah Thomas, added his own perspective to the conversation. In a recent post on X, Thomas suggested that James’ retirement might be tied to playing with both of his sons, Bronny and Bryce.
“What’s gonna be even crazier is when Bron plays with Bryce too… Once he does that, he’s retiring then, lol. Now everything will be complete and ride off in the sunset,” Thomas wrote. IT’s tweet left the fans in splits as they flooded his comment section with hilarious reactions.
Fans React To Isaiah Thomas’ Bold Claim Regarding LeBron James’ Longevity
LeBron James already created history by sharing the court with his eldest son, Bronny James, during the Lakers’ second preseason game. As Isaiah Thomas suggested LeBron might play with his younger son Bryce as well, NBA fans couldn’t help but share their thoughts.
One X user even created a poll. More than 50% of the voters agreed with Thomas’ claim that LeBron could play alongside Bryce in the future. In addition to the poll, many fans expressed similar thoughts, imagining the possibility of LeBron completing his career by sharing the court with both of his sons.

However, Bronny James’ draft wasn’t without controversy, as some critics accused LeBron of using nepotism to help his son. Now, with rumors of Bryce possibly joining his father on the court, some fans are voicing concerns about LeBron pulling the “nepotism card” again.
Bryce James is currently ranked No. 100 for the Class of 2025. Whether Thomas’ bold prediction eventually comes to fruition remains to be seen.
