Los Angeles Lakers fans hoped to light the purple and gold on fire this offseason with some big free-agency signings. But with DeMar DeRozan signing with the Sacramento Kings, the Lakers lost out on many top stars they were targeting in free agency.
As a result, their supporters were let down since their club failed to acquire crucial players over the summer. However, they made a concerted effort to sign the free agent, which was made public when LeBron James detailed everything.
The 39-year-old signed a new two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. He promised to accept less if the Lakers signed some big superstars, but the team lost multiple opportunities. However, James wasn’t throwing shade or getting down about it.
Without spreading negativity, he emphasized his experience with the NBA’s business side, He noted “It takes two to tango… That’s part of the business. I’ve been in this business long enough to know that sometimes it happens, sometimes it don’t.”
James doesn’t regret the chances that were passed up. He declared, “We don’t sit here and lie about or cry about it.” He did acknowledge the talent that got away, but he remains optimistic, stating, “We move on to see how we continue to get better.”
The four-time NBA champion is now concentrating on his Olympic preparation with the USA Team. His primary focus is ensuring they’re ready to take home the gold at any cost.

LeBron James Explains Why He Took a Pay Cut
It has been confirmed that the veteran megastar has rejoined the Los Angeles Lakers. Surprisingly, he contributed more to the squad by reducing wages in his new contract. Originally, he was looking at a massive $104 million, but he ended up signing for $101.35 million. That’s a cool $2.65 million he left on the table.
With James accepting $2.65 million less, the LA Lakers gained salary space to strengthen their squad. While speaking on the pay cut, LeBron said, “Because we are in a relationship and anybody knows relationships, [knows that] it’s all about committing. It’s also about doing things to help both sides. So, we’ve been in a working relationship going on seven years … so that’s what it’s about.”
