After winning three consecutive games, the Los Angeles Lakers recently suffered a loss against the Detroit Pistons. Star player LeBron James delivered an impressive performance, recording a triple-double with 28 points, 11 assists, and 11 rebounds in 35 minutes of play. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to secure a victory, as the Lakers lost the game with a final score of 114-117.
During the post-game interview, James was asked about the Pistons’ physical play against him and the Lakers. The 39-year-old superstar surprised everyone with his insight, confidently sharing that he’s always thrived in tough situations, thanks to his background in high school football.
“You just gotta match physicality with physicality. I can’t speak for anybody but myself when it comes to that. I’m a football player so I don’t mind physicality, to be honest. Perfectly fine for me but as a team we have to be better. We gotta do it as a team… It’s not something that you’re going to learn. It’s either in you or it’s not.” James said to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

During high school, James was a standout wide receiver for St. Vincent-St. Mary’s football team. By the end of his sophomore year, he had earned a spot on the first-team all-state. In his junior season, he was crucial in leading the Fighting Irish to the state semifinals. Even now, analysts, players, coaches, and fans enjoy engaging in spirited discussions about whether James had the potential to make it in the NFL.
LeBron James Reflects On His Upcoming Game Against Stephen Curry
Despite the tough loss to the Pistons, Lakers fans are excited about the team’s next game. The Lakers will face the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day. This matchup marks the fourth time that James and Stephen Curry will compete against each other on Christmas in their professional careers. During a post-game interview, a reporter asked James about this upcoming game, during which he hinted about his retirement.
“Any time you get an opportunity to be on the court and compete against one of the greatest to ever play this game, you don’t take it for granted. I don’t know how many more opportunities we’re going to get to go against each other so it’s always fun.” James said to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.
