It seems like we’ve heard for years that a Space Jam 2 would soon be in the works, but nothing concrete has ever came of it.
That all changed over all-star weekend when LeBron James confirmed that Space Jam 2, the sequel to Michael Jordan’s crossover 1996 film, will begin filming this coming summer.
Along with being one of the executive producers, James will also have the starring role in the movie.
For the young people who never got a chance to watch the film, the original featured Michael Jordan teaming up with the Looney Tunes to take on the wicked Monstars in a game of basketball. That film has basically been immortalized since his airness went on to become the greatest basketball player of all-time.
It was back in September 2008 that Ryan Coogler, the acclaimed Black Panther director, had signed on to produce the sequel, with Random Acts of Flyness creator Terence Nance confirmed as the project’s director.
