Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton and Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James are gearing up for a showdown in Madden. LeBron shared the news of their upcoming match on his Instagram story.
“Where I’m from, the next word is bet. LET’S GET IT,” James wrote, accompanied by a few emojis.
This announcement came after LeBron’s teammate, Anthony Davis, praised LeBron’s skills in video game Madden. Davis claimed that LeBron has dedicated a significant amount of time to improving his gameplay and has already become one of the top 1,000 Madden players worldwide.
However, Newton was skeptical of Davis’ claims. The former NFL star’s recent subtle dig at LeBron seems to have set the stage for their highly anticipated Madden game.
Cam Newton Questions LeBron James’ Madden Skills
Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton recently took to his podcast, “4th & 1 with Cam Newton”, to discuss LeBron James’ reputation as a Madden player. Newton was candid in his assessment, suggesting that James might not be as skilled as some believe.
“Big cap. You’re not considered the best if you’re playing with the best teams. A lot of these gamers are getting bailed out by having the best player. If you’re playing with Patrick Mahomes in Madden, that’s a cheat code,” Newton said.

Newton later claimed he would easily defeat James in a Madden match, asserting that LeBron doesn’t have enough time to hone his gaming skills.
“I don’t even want to play LeBron because LeBron is cool. But I know he can’t beat me. That’s just, put it like that. He don’t got enough time to be dedicated to beat me,” Newton added.
