This shouldn’t be too shocking to a lot of people, but LeBron James is not well liked by a ton of people online. He’s one of very few athletes who will be brought up in a conversation that has nothing to do with him, and it doesn’t matter if it’s a sport he doesn’t even play.
In the past 12 months, the online abuse of athletes has been highlighted by Pickswise who have done the work to analyze every single tweet that has been sent to professionals in the sports of Football, Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, Golf and Ice Hockey over the last year.
James had 279% more abusive messages than Marcus Rashford, who came in second. The Akron native also received the most LGBT-phobic tweets.
As far as football goes, 43-year-old Tom Brady received the most hate online of any other player, which put him third on the list with 28,151 messages.
JuJu Smith Schuster being on this list might be shocking, but in 2020, he made major waves with people criticizing him for doing TikTok dances on the logos of his opponents. Dez Bryant, who made his way back into the NFL last season, somehow made this list as well.

NASCAR Driver Bubba Wallace comes in fifth with over 21,000 hate messages, which isn’t shocking considering he had a hand in getting rid of confederate flags at events and the widely talked about noose in his garage.
