Many celebrities expressed grief and anger on social media after eight people were senselessly shot and killed at Atlanta-area massage parlors on Tuesday, with many of them appearing to be Asian women.
According to authorities, four individuals were killed in Cherokee County while four women died in a pair of Atlanta shootings that took place less than an hour later, NBC News reported.
Officials said at least six of the eight victims appeared to be Asian women.
21-year-old Robert Aaron Long has since been arrested.
Among the many notable faces to speak out was LeBron James, who tweeted, “My condolences goes out to the families of all the victims and the entire Asian community tonight on what transpired in Atlanta at the Aromatherapy Spa. Coward a** young man!! Just senseless and tragic!!”
Jeremy Lin, who has been outspoken about violence in his community, tweeted, “This is sooo heartbreaking…praying for our world. To my Asian American family, please take time to grieve but know youre loved, seen and IMPORTANT. We have to keep standing up, speaking out, rallying together and fighting for change. We cannot lose hope!! #StopAsianHate #NOW.”
