The Charlotte Hornets’ struggles continued on Monday night as they were handed a tough 107-112 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the night took a more concerning turn when star guard LaMelo Ball was forced to leave the game due to a left ankle injury.
After the game, Hornets’ head coach Charles Lee provided an update on Ball’s condition. He explained that the team was still in the process of evaluating the injury.
“I know that they’re still obviously doing some evaluation. I think he shot the ball, was backpedaling to get it back on defense, and stepped on the foot, and so we’ll see what happens tomorrow as he comes in for treatment and stuff,” Lee said.

The injury occurred after Ball made a one-footed 3-pointer. But as he tried to backpedal on defense, he stepped on Jarred Vanderbilt’s foot. It caused him to lose balance, fall backward, and also hit his head hard on the floor. The injury left Ball unable to return to the game.

Charles Lee Urges Caution After LaMelo Ball Injury
LaMelo Ball’s injury is now a major concern for the Hornets, who have relied on his energy and playmaking ability throughout the season. Hornets head coach Charles Lee acknowledged the importance of monitoring the situation closely.
“LaMelo’s injury is definitely something we need to monitor closely. He’s been such a key player for us this season, and we just hope it’s not as serious as it looked. His talent and energy are irreplaceable, and we need him healthy moving forward,” Lee said.
Before leaving the game, Ball had contributed 7 points, one assist, and one steal in the first half. His injury casts a shadow over an already disappointing season for the Hornets, and the team will now be hoping for good news regarding his recovery.
