Former NBA forward Lamar Odom took Kobe Bryant’s death very hard and admitted to texting his old teammate weeks after he passed away.
Lamar and Kobe developed a close friendship during their playing days. The Black Mamba typically detested players with poor work ethic, but Lamar still managed to ingratiate himself and was able to help the Lakers win two championships alongside the man who took up the task of becoming his mentor, as well as his friend.
With Kobe pushing him, Odom turned out to be a key asset for the Los Angeles Lakers coming off the bench. He was named the Sixth Man of the Year in 2011.
The 43-year-old would discuss his relationship with the late superstar during an episode of Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast, claiming the latter came to him in multiple dreams.
In the clip below, Odom describes one of the dreams, telling Sharpe they had a three-point shooting contest before Bryant told him, “LO, the afterlife ain’t what people make it up to be.”
