Anthony Davis has been a driving force for the Los Angeles Lakers this season, helping the team secure a 12-9 record and eighth place in the Western Conference. Despite the Lakers’ early elimination from the NBA Cup, Davis’ performance on both ends of the floor has kept them competitive.
Widely regarded as one of the best defensive players in the league, Davis has yet to win the prestigious Defensive Player of the Year award. In an interview with Melissa Rohlin of Fox Sports, Davis expressed his confusion over why he hasn’t received the honor during his career. For Davis, the focus has shifted from individual accolades to team success.
“There’s nothing that I can’t do defensively. I can switch one through five. I’m one of the best at guarding pick-and-rolls, an elite rim protector. Whatever you need me to do defensively, I can do. I honestly just stopped caring about it. But I’m not sure why I haven’t received one yet, even though I’m in a conversation about it every year,” Davis said.

Anthony Davis Addresses MVP Buzz Surrounding His Stellar Season
Anthony Davis has been putting up outstanding performances this season, sparking discussions about his potential as an MVP candidate. The Lakers star, however, remains grounded and focused on the bigger picture. In the interview with Melissa Rohlin, Davis shared his perspective on the MVP chatter.
“The MVP stuff and all that stuff will come whenever it comes, if it comes. It’s not like I’m going to dominate so I can win MVP. I think a lot of times when players focus on winning an individual award, they get lost in that and not focusing on team basketball,” Davis said.
