Now everything is starting to make sense.
In an attempt to bring Tyronn Lue on to bring the head coach of the Lakers, there was a report that the front office wanted Jason Kidd to be one of his assistants on the coaching staff, and not many knew why at the time.
As it turned out, the Lakers were thinking years ahead when they hired Frank Vogel as head coach, but most importantly, Jason Kidd to the staff.

“It is just speculation right now, but one person asked me if I knew why Kidd was there and as I guessed at his relationship with LeBron James or his ability to tutor Lonzo Ball, the person familiar with the Lakers process said something else: that Kidd was brought to Los Angeles to attract Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Lakers when he becomes a free agent in two years when the Bucks star could become an unrestricted free agent.”
Being 34-years-old, LeBron James likely has little time left to be at the top of his game and the Lakers most certainly want to try and squeeze a championship or two before he hangs it up for good.
