There weren’t many Lakers fans who would have imagined that their team would have been 3-2 up on the defending NBA champions in the Western Conference semis after they had to sneak into the playoffs via the play-in.
But they’re just one game away from advancing to the conference finals, though they would have hoped to seal the deal on Wednesday night, having taken a 3-1 lead against the Warriors earlier in the week.
The Dubs survived their first elimination game in the series, leaving the Lakers and their fans worried as Anthony Davis was forced to leave the game early after getting hit in the head by an elbow from Warriors center Kevon Looney.
Davis has been playing excellent basketball for the Lakers but they could be without him for a crucial Game 6 on Friday night after he was wheeled off the court due to feeling woozy.
The Lakers could see their lead vanish should they take the court without their All-Star big man. But it appears the team isn’t prepared to sit him as TNT’s Chris Haynes reported earlier today that he is expected to play on Friday.

This came as quite a surprise given what fans saw last night. And the Lakers are now being accused of trying to skirt NBA rules as they have not actually listed Davis as concussed.
The 30-year-old would need to be entered into the league’s concussion protocol if his team branded his injury the aforementioned, meaning he would be unable to begin the steps required to return to the court until 24 hours have passed.
L.A Times beat reporter Dan Woike suggested that the Lakers were purposely vague in their assessment, and it’s now believed that the team could be covering up a potential concussion so Davis could play in Game 6.
The circumstances have been compared to the one involving Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa during the most recent NFL season.
While there’s no proof of AD suffering a concussion, it would be a terrible thing for the Lakers to have the player suit up knowing he could have one.
