An interesting trade idea has been suggested and it could see the Los Angeles Lakers land Utah Jazz big man Lauri Markkanen.
The Lakers and Jazz did engage in dealings ahead of the trade deadline and Markkanen may have very well been part of that as it was possible. However, L.A ended up with Jarred Vanderbilt and Malik Beasley instead.
While a very decent pair, the Lakers could have done better. The Jazz will probably feel the same as they could have landed more assets and could possibly regret trading a potential star in Vanderbilt, especially given their position in the West.
Utah could be headed toward an off-season rebuild, so Markkanen ending up with the Lakers isn’t all that far-fetched.
So how would this proposed trade happen? Well, a third team, the Golden State Warriors, would need to be added.
The Lakers would receive Markkanen from the Jazz and Andrew Wiggins from the Warriors while the Warriors would get Anthony Davis from the Lakers.

The Jazz would then acquire Mo Bamba from Los Angeles and Jonathan Kuminga from Golden State., as well as a 2026 first-round pick from the Warriors and a 2029 first-rounder from the Lakers.
While the idea of Davis getting traded might not sit well with a large section of LakerNation, it’s worth considering that Markkanen is younger and isn’t a downgrade on offense. Davis is the better defender but is also quite injury prone.
Getting both Markkanen and Wiggins would more than make up for losing AD.
