So far, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have dominated the free-agent period in the NBA, and neither of them are free agents.
Kyrie Irving has opted in into his deal for next year, but Kevin Durant has other plans as he demanded a trade on Thursday. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski would later add that there’s a “possibility” Durant could be dealt alongside Kyrie Irving.
“I’m sure it’s a scenario that’s going to appeal to them,” Wojnarowski said on NBA Today. “They’ve wanted to play together. They want to continue to play together, but the sense is they don’t want to do it together in Brooklyn anymore.”
The Los Angeles Lakers would have interest in acquiring Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in a package deal, league executives have floated to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

In order to acquire Durant and Irving, the Lakers would have to build a package around Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook and future draft picks.
Durant has four years remaining on his current contract. While Westbrook is on an expiring contract, he is widely viewed as a negative asset.
Durant and Irving will make a combined $81 million in 2022-23. A deal to the Lakers is almost impossible to happen, but you should expect the Lakers to at least visit the idea.
